Here are a few tips from students who have passed the exam shortly after completing Gatson Training’s online licensing course:
“Study! There is no easy way to passing, besides studying. Read the exam manuals in their entirety. Also, take good notes over the course of the class to make sure you have a good resource to study from.”
“Study with the exam in mind. There are some areas that are more heavily tested than others. Focus your time on those areas. Learn to recognize digressions, or when the instructor places emphasizes on one topic versus another. The insurance exam focuses on broad concepts to ensure you have an understanding of the material, so don’t focus so much on the tiny details.”
“It sounds simple but I am going to suggest one thing: Write. One common mistake students make is reading the material, but not writing anything down or taking notes. Take a more active approach and treat it like an activity. Make notecards, write notes and look for connections between concepts and ideas. Read and write at the same time, actively thinking about the concepts as you are writing them down will help you to remember them.”
“Study in different places or locations. Studies have shown that studying the same material in different places will help you remember the material easier. Sometimes just switching environments will allow you to focus more on the content. Plus it’s a good excuse to grab a cappuccino at your local coffee shop!”
